If you need to reach me I can be found at chris@chrisfoxwrites.com. I’d love to hear from you!

Once upon a time I was an iPhone developer architecting the app used to scope Stephen Colbert’s ear. These days I write stories about dragons tearing apart starships, and gods blowing up planets.

I’ve been writing since I was six years old and started inflicting my work on others at age 18. By age 24 people stopped running away when I approached them with a new story and shortly thereafter I published my first one in the Rifter.

Wait you’re still reading?

Ok, the facts I’m supposed to list in a bio.  As of this writing I’m 42 years old and live just north of the Golden Gate Bridge in beautiful Marin County. If you’re unsure how to find it just follow the smell of self-entitlement. Once you see the teens driving Teslas you’ll know you’re in the right place.

I’ve published over 20 novels, and have a series of non-fiction books that teach writers how to duplicate my success. I’m far better known for the Write Faster, Write Smarter series, and have spoken all over the country about writing to market, making your writing a habit, and quitting your day job to become an author.

My true love though? Science fiction and fantasy. I love worldbuilding. I love storytelling. I’ve been playing D&D since I was six, and they’ll have to pry my d20 from my cold, dead hands =D

  • Start your move! Go on, pack up and MOVE already!

I just finished reading No Such Thing as Werewolves, purchased the audio book as well from Audible. Great job, looking forward to more. Yes, I did roll my eyes and curse you at the end, DOH! “Already the black veins were creeping up his wrist…” Gah!

    Again, great job.

    • Yeah, I definitely feel a little guilty about that cliffhanger. It’s a killer. Beta copies of book 2 are going out in 7 days if you have any interest. If you sign up to the mailing list I’ll make sure you get added!

  • You wrote in the Rifter? Are you a Palladium Books gamer or just Pathfinder?

    Reply
    • Yeah, I wrote Rifts fan fiction about my characters, and they published a fair amount of it.

I haven’t played Rifts or Palladium in ages though. How about you?

  • Yes, I am a player in 4th edition D&D (Ravenloft setting) right now, plus I run my own Beyond the Supernatural and Dead Reign campaigns. Had the same gaming group since I was 10. I’ve been pretty vocal about Palladium opening up their worlds to Kindle Worlds but so far it’s been on deaf ears.

    • It must be awesome to have the same gaming group that long. I’m totally jealous.

If Palladium opened a Kindle World I’d start cranking out Rifts novels.

      • I was never into Rifts, but I loved the Fantasy RPG, Ninjas & Superspies, and Beyond the Supernatural. I’m about to start a Dead Reign Campaign.

  • Hi Chris, I bought the Deathless books on Audible and really enjoying it. I just about fell off my chair when you mentioned SRJC. I grew up in Santa Rosa. I also spent many years at the University of Mendocino Avenue and SSU. Blair’s stance on there being historical fact that the pyramids were built by humans not aliens reminds me of Dr. Poe’s lectures at SSU. I’ll stop rambling now.

Keep up the excellent work. I’ll end up listening/reading it all in the next few months!

  • Hey Chris!
I just finished the audiobook for 5kwph on a road trip and working through the activities right now. It’s already been a huge help and I’m using the spreadsheet you provided, but in the audiobook it talks about an app but I can’t find it anywhere! Not sure if its off the market right now, but if it is ever available again I’d be very interested in using it!

  • You rival Stephen King. I just completed Hero Born Project Solaris. Wow that was a great read. I can’t wait for more.

  • Just finished listening to your deathless and project Solaris series and think they’re brilliant, I liked your novel twists on the typical werewolf vampire and zombie story lines.
Just one slight problem which I’m nit sure if you or others have picked up on, but in your story recaps you keep saying that Liz got Excalibur of of mark and you called it object one but in the main story it was called object two, one was the necklace two was the sword, and three was the teleporter disc lol.
I can’t wait for the next books in either series and hope that you can get the same narrator as be really suits your story lines.

  • Chris,
Thank you, thank you thank you! I’ve read some of your fiction (NSTAW, Magitech, etc.), most of your writing books and gone through almost all of your videos. Because you rekindled my love of writing Sci Fi, Fantasy and Action Adventure, I’ve completed my sixth novel, added three series prequels and am just barely able to get into the book a month club – start to publish in one month. Its been quite the adventure and I’m loving the journey. Keep up the great work you all are doing.

Wishing you and the family all the best,
    J. T. Skye
