  • I was wondering when you were going to post about this. I searched the day you posted about Predator and I snagged it from Audible. Holy crap, Chris! That was an amazing listen. NSTAW made me write my first review ever and I think NMZ may be the second. This book was amazing and the cliffhanger was much more subtle this time! After the pure pleasure was over, I was actually able to relax, cuddle my pillow, and not take to the internet in a frantic search. I will be able to stay relatively patient for VDP…not to be confused with Vampires DP. Which I’m sure is out there in the world as fan fiction somewhere.

As a champion for the indie author, you’re kind of a hero of mine. Kind of. Don’t get a big head about it. But as a story teller, you give me hope for a genre that is typically plug n play.

    Keep up the awesome work!

    • Wow, thanks for the praise, Dave! I almost forgot to post about it here, which is why it was a day late. It’s tough juggling social media, getting work published and edited, all on top of a day job. Totally worth it though!

Thanks for the praise. I really enjoyed writing No Mere Zombie, and I felt like it needed a softer cliffhanger than NSTAW. I’m almost half way through the first draft of VDP, not to be confused with Vampires DP =p

I really think this will be the decade of the indie author. A lot of us are still learning. We have editing mistakes, plot problems, and marketing woes…but we’re getting better every day. Give us a few years and I think you’ll see more and more great indies rise from the ranks!

      • The praise is warrented. Seriously, this series is amazing. Don’t sweat the small stuff. I still find typos in bigger stories. Plot loopholes aren’t horrible if they’re not too bad. I have a midnight copy of Half Blood Prince that calls Snape ‘Snap’…

There’s a scene in a Heath Stallcup book that has a character included in a conversation while that character is in another plane of existence. I didn’t even realize it until I was in the shower one day and thought “huh?”.

That’s the trick. If your story is amazing enough, your readers won’t notice or care until the story is already over. Then they’ll reread, chuckle like they’re a genius that found a dirty word in a word search, and keep rereading.

        • Thanks, Dave! It helps to hear that evening Rowling has typos. Vampires Don’t Sparkle has been a blast to write so far. Can’t wait to share it with you guys!

  • Hey Chris, Getting ready to tear into this tonight after I finish Resistance: Dave vs the Monsters. Cant wait. Chris my Aunt Shannon had messaged you in your comment section previously regarding your success with self publishing. Would you be willing to converse with her via email to help explain the ins and outs about your success, and possibly what she is doing wrong?

    • I’d be happy to chat more with her about some steps she can take with self-publishing. Does she use Facebook? If so, have her message me via my author page. If not she can contact me at chris (at) chrisfoxwrites.com
